Favorite coffee chain store ranking in Japan
NIFTY Corporation announced favorite coffee chain store ranking. The 1st place is “Starbucks Coffee”, 19% and the 2nd place are “Doutor Coffee”, 14% and these two are commanding leads.
Although the “Komeda coffee store” of the 3rd place was 4% in the total, support of the sexagenary-cycle commanding lead was gained popularity more than 20% in the Tokai district.
Starbucks Coffee Japan was established in October 1995. Since the opening of the first store on August 2, 1996, in the Ginza district of Tokyo, their network has expanded rapidly throughout the country and has reached 985 stores as of the end of March 2013.
Doutor Coffee opened the first European styled cafe in Harajuku, Japan on 18th April 1980. The size of the small shop was only 9 square meters. Despite the small size and local competition, the Doutor Coffee shop succeeded and has expanded to the company that it is now.
Although it was the coffee shop currently run individually from the first, it comes to carry out franchise deployment from 1970. Komeda Co.,LTD. was established in 1993. While promoting franchise deployment of a Komeda coffee store, various experiment stores are also developed.
