The ranking of the popular hot-springs resort was made based on the questionnaire carried out to Jalan net users all over the country.
Hakone Onsen of the 1st place is close to Japan’s highest mountain, Mt. Fuji. Hakone is located about one hour by train from Tokyo.
Kusatsu Onsen of the 2nd place is located about 200 kilometers north-northwest of Tokyo. Kusatsu Onsen boasts the largest flowing water volume of all hot springs in Japan.
“ONSEN” literary means “warm spring” in Chinese characters and is equal to “hot springs” in English.
